Outside the town wall, where the town grew
When the wall could no longer contain the urban sprawl, many houses started to be built directly along the wall of the defensive structure itself. This is the case with all the
houses on the left-hand side of Muralla Street. And when there was no longer any room inside the wall, new houses were built outside the wall (on the right-hand side of this street).
These houses are currently joined together by the arched passageways that are one of the most characteristic features of the town’s urban centre. The structure of a possible lookout or defensive tower can be imagined on this spot.
